Servicing your stairlift

Stairlifts are fantastic as they give you the freedom to move between levels in your own home. Many Western Stairlift customers heavily rely on their stairlifts to keep them active in their own homes, and we’re super pleased at being able to assist so many people in Utah. Stairlifts, however, need to be cared and looked after, which is why – in the unlikely event you experience a problem with your stairlift – you have the peace of mind with a Western Stairlifts service package that suits your needs, and that you can rely on.

What we tell all our customers is that a stairlift is a machine and a substantial piece of engineering – just like a car. As you know, cars need to be serviced every year to keep them in perfect working condition, and the same needs to be done to stairlifts. All the stairlifts we sell here at Western Stairlifts come with warranty and we’re also on hand to provide you with the best possible care for the entire life of your stairlift.

We also sell reconditioned/ refurbished stairlifts, and provide a warranty on these stairlifts too. But just like new stairlifts, refurbished stairlifts also need to be serviced so as to ensure they continue to provide you with the best possible care.

Once the warranty on your stairlift has expired, we can offer you a service package to suit you. A basic package will include an annual service, priority access and reduced rates for call outs whereas a premium package will often cover parts and call outs during office hours, with reduced rates for out of hours call outs.

When you take out a stairlift service contract with us, you’ll have access to a 24 hour, 365 day a year service so that no matter what the day or time you can get a dedicated Western Stairlift engineer to come out and see you if your need is really urgent.

Another way to keep costs down is to buy an extended warranty at the same time as you purchase your stairlift. This can work out significantly cheaper in the long term.

What to look for from your stairlift engineer

Anyone you invite into your home to service your stairlift (whether it’s a Western Stairlift engineer or an engineer from another company), should always be able to show you ID, be suitably qualified and treat you with the utmost respect, explaining what the costs will be and keeping you informed of progress. They should also show you the damaged parts and be prepared to explain to you what is wrong with your stairlift.

Looking after your stairlift

In between stairlift services, it’s important that you continue to look after your stairlift. If you look after it, it will look after you. Ensure that you keep dust and dirt off your rail, and wipe the upholstery so that it continues to look in pristine condition. You can clean your stairlift with a damp cloth, but make sure you don’t use a soaked towel as water might affect the electrics. With an annual service and some TLC from your part, your stairlift should give you trouble-free service for years to come.

If you’ve got any questions about your current stairlift, or are looking to buy a new stairlift, give us a call on 801-386-2408 and we’ll answer any questions you have.
